Summer is just around the corner and you are planning a vacation, but are unsure whether Merano is the right place for it?

Naturbad Gargazon

The natural swimming pool in Gargazon is located only a few kilometers from Merano and is easy to reach by car, bus, bike or train.

Merano attracts in summer with hot temperatures, so sometimes it is not so wrong to dive into the natural outdoor pool in Gargazon.

Other great bathing lakes such as the Kalterer See, the Montiggler See, the Völser Weiher in the Schlern area or the breathtaking mountain lakes Spronserseen near Dorf Tirol also provide fun & relaxation.

A medium-difficult via ferrata of superlatives - for young & old!

A real highlight with breathtaking views over Merano & surroundings.

For whom the vacation should be packed with a little more adrenaline, Merano is certainly the right place. Other recommended via ferratas near Merano are the Stuller waterfall  in the Passeier Valley, the Pisciadu with breathtaking views in the Dolomites or the Hoachwool in Naturno with views of Juval Castle.

With little to no experience or with children on the way, absolute fun is guaranteed in the adventure parks.

The versatile hiking routes, high alpine mountaineering routes or beautiful scenic walks, are so varied that we can only give you a small insight here.
 

For a leisurely stroll, we recommend the  Waalwege in and near Merano or strolling along the Tappeinerweg. If you want to dare something more demanding, a summit tour such as on the local mountain Monte Ivigna or on the Mutspitze near Dorf Tirol is certainly a great challenge that is rewarded with breathtaking views.

For those who like it a bit more sporty, the aperitivo can also be wonderfully combined with a walk to the Fragsburg waterfall - the highest in South Tyrol.

Those looking for a quiet, inspiring moment away from the hustle and bustle of Merano's Lauben will feel very much at home in Merano's oldest district.

 

Especially in summer, the cool medieval walls of the Steinach Quarter make the heat more bearable.

Merano and Dorf Tirol have been connected by a chairlift since the late 1940s: also known as the Panoramic chairlift Merano - Dorf Tirol.

Float above the vineyards to relax and enjoy the view of the spa town of Merano.

 

In Dorf Tirol, a visit to the Dorf Tirol Castle is worthwhile afterwards

Radfahren Meran

A special flair is offered by the countless bike tours in Merano and the surrounding area, especially during spring - in the apple blossom.

Our recommendations:

  • Bike tour from Schenna via Labers Castle and Fragsburg Castle to the private beer brewery Greiterhof.

  • Cycle path to Lake Kaltern

  • Cycle path from Merano to St.-Leonhard in Passeier
